It is still not known if any of the iPad Minis stolen in the raid on the cargo warehouse at JFK airport have been recovered.

Federal agents have so far made one arrest following last Monday’s heist where $1.9m of the trendy tablets were stolen.

Suspect Renel Rene Richardson was nabbed because he had allegedly made suspicious inquiries to co-workers about the gadget shipment and about the location of forklift trucks at the airport, according to court papers.

The New York Post reported that Richardson allegedly had two helpers in the heist at the Cargo Air Services building where he worked, according to a criminal complaint filed in Brooklyn federal court.

Richardson allegedly acted as a lookout, according to court papers while the other, unidentified criminals loaded two pallets of the tablet computers onto a truck. Around 3,600 iPad minis which had been destined for China were stolen.

The New York Post said: “After the FBI arrested him, Richardson accompanied the Port Authority detectives on Wednesday night as they searched Long Island for the truck, law-enforcement sources said.

“It is unclear whether the iPads have been recovered. An FBI spokesman declined to comment.”
